What is difference between liquid-based mix vs. powdered mix?
At first glance, liquid-based mix may seem easier to use because it is already pre-made. However, because liquid-based mixes come frozen, you must thaw it about 3 days prior to use it for your store. What we found by operating our own retail stores is that it is often difficult for store owners to predict exactly how many liquid-base mix to thaw in advance, which results in leftover mixes that are perishable if not used by a certain time frame. Moreover, liquid-based mix requires you to purchase extra refrigeration space, which can be rather costly and make maintenance a greater hassle. Lastly and perhaps most importantly, our research indicates that liquid-based mix does not produce the best tasting yogurt, which is the key reason why powdered mix continue to be more popular among shop owners compared to liquid-based mix.
