What is Detroit like?
In the immediate vicinity of the main campus are several museums including the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Detroit Historical Museum, and the Museum of African-American History. Wayne State University is home to the Hillberry Company, an outstanding graduate repertory theatre which stages several productions each year. Located close by are the Fisher Theater, the Fox Theater, and Orchestra Hall, home of the internationally known Detroit Symphony Orchestra. The climate in Detroit has four distinct seasons. During the summer months, the temperature can reach 35 to 50 Celsius. The winter climate can be very cold with temperatures dropping to -10 to -25 Celsius.
