What is degree equivalence?
It is validation by the doctoral committee that the degree for access to the doctorate meets the necessary requisites that give direct access to doctoral courses. It must be applied for by all students accessing the doctorate degree regulated by Royal Decree 778/1998 with a foreign degree that has not been homologated by the Ministry of Education and Science. To do so, the application for equivalence (model E) must be presented, which can be found at: http://doctorat.upc.edu/impresos to the Academic Unit Responsible for the Doctorate, together with a certified photocopy of the legalised degree (see Appendix 2 of legalisations), the transcript of academic records, the syllabus and the corresponding fees (see Appendix 4). Equivalence need not be requested by students who gain access with degrees issued by institutions in the European Higher Education Area that entitle access to doctorate teaching in the country issuing the degree.
