What is deferred recruitment?
Ohio State utilizes deferred recruitment, meaning you must have 12 credit hours of college/university credit before you go through recruitment. For most first-year students, this means that a fraternity can not offer you a bid until winter quarter. Deferred recruitment actually gives you several advantages. First, you can adjust to the academic culture of college life. Second, you have an entire quarter to explore all of the fraternities without any of the pressure that sometimes accompanies the extending of bids.
