What is dead head protection?
A dead head condition is an event when there is an unexpected blockage of discharge flow. This condition can lead to component failure and the critical failure of the pump. A simple way to avoid this condition is to install a relief valve. The relief valve should be installed as close to the pump outlet as possible and upstream of any restriction in the fluid path.
