What is Data Recovery?
Data recovery is the process of retrieving deleted or inaccessible data from failed electronic storage media such as computer hard disk drives, removable media, optical devices and tape cartridges. Your data can become inaccessible due to a software problem, computer virus, mechanical or electrical malfunction or a deliberate human act. Regardless of the cause of your data loss, our experienced technicians are able to successfully recover lost data 70% – 75% of the time.
Data recovery can be a highly technical and labor-intensive process used to restore deleted, lost or corrupted files. The recovery process can be performed on most all digital media, from hard drives, USB storage devices, to compact memory cards. Even though a hard drive can crash and fail, it does not mean the stored data is gone. When files are permanently deleted (example – an emptied Recycle Bin), the data may still exist. Recovery methods used depend on the type of loss or failure. Data can be recovered by using specialized software on a host computer that connects to the media where the files are to be recovered. (Don’t try this at home.) If the hard drive is physically damaged, a clean-room lab environment may be needed. This can be very expensive.
