February 9, 2009 The plan, announced by President James Wright on February 9, 2009, calls for a $47 million reduction to the $450 million College-only budget over the next two fiscal years, with $35 million of that amount taking effect in the coming fiscal year. Institution-wide, the plan calls for savings of $72 million based on a $700 million budget for the College plus the three professional schools: Dartmouth Medical School (DMS), the Thayer School of Engineering, and the Tuck School of Business. Tuck and Thayer are adjusting discretionary expenses to maintain balanced budgets. DMS is engaged in a strategic-planning process and will finalize its budget reductions in Spring 2009.
