What is cytostatik drug?
Cytostatic drugs (or Cytostatika, from the Greek Cyto = cell and statics = continue) are natural or synthetic substances, which restrain cell growth and/or the cell division. They are used particularly for the treatment of cancer (chemotherapy). Beside the classical cytostatic drugs, further substances as hormones, therapeutic monoclonal anti-bodies and so-called small molecules” as proteasome inhibitors are used nowadays for the treatment of tumor illnesses.
