What is CWEF, and how did it begin?
Canadian World Education Foundation, or CWEF, is an incorporated, charitable, tax-exempt organization in Canada. The late Dr. Guru Mathur, Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Windsor, envisioned this organization. The shortage of funds available to widows in India for the education of their children agitated his mind. The seeds to make a difference in the lives of these unfortunate widows stayed in the minds of some individuals. CWEF started operating in 1996 as a chapter of another charitable tax-exempt organization named Vishvas (formerly Saraswati Vishvas Canada). Finally, CWEF was conceived and founded by Drs. Ronald Baron, Daniel Britten, Richard Caron, Om Chandna and Purna Kaloni in the year 1998.
