What is CVEC and where are its customers?
Connecticut Valley Electric Company (CVEC) is one of four investor-owned electric utilities in New Hampshire. It serves about 10,000 customers in 13 communities along the Connecticut River, including: Bath, Claremont, Cornish, Hanover, Haverhill, Lyman, Lyme, Newport, No. Charlestown, Orford, Piermont, Plainfield and Unity. Many of the communities currently served by CVEC abut PSNH’s service territory. In terms of electric load and number of customers, PSNH is almost 50 times the size of CVEC. CVEC is a subsidiary of Central Vermont Public Service Company(CVPS), which is based in Rutland, Vermont.
