CVD and SVCD subtitles are selectable subtitles that may be used in SVCDs. Selectable means that you can choose between up to 4 subtitles or choose no subtitles, similiar to DVDs. CVD subtitles also called “China Video Disc” or “I-Author subtitles” is not really included in the SVCD standard but works in some standalone DVD Players. Make CVD subtitles with I-Author or submux. SVCD subtitles also called “Philips subtitles” is SVCD standard and works on most Philips DVD Players and some others. Make SVCD subtitles with submux. You can also make both CVD and SVCD subtitles with MaestroSBT, you find over at doom9.org.
