will do what you want it to do Preferably a lens with an aperture of f2 would suffice the bill. You did not specify any budget so it would be difficult to recommend a particuar one. Despite saying this I have come across a few which can do a great job of taking shots at concerts. You certainly will need to push it to a higher iso thereby generating some digital noise but that is a trade off since the sensors of the compact camera’s are smaller they tend to produce more digital noise. I would urge you to check out the Panasonic line which makes great compact camera’s along with Nikon and Canon the two most established brands out there. There is a particular model that I was considering at one time for its high quality and good fast lens. You may like to take a peek into it or look for others from the three brands offering you a fast lens. If a budget had been specified I may have been able to make a short list for you but in the absense I am not in a position to do so.
