What is Curly Endive?
Curly endive, also sometimes called frisee or chicory, is a bitter dark leafy green used in salads and other dishes. Like other endives, curly endive has a characteristically sharp, bitter flavor which greatly enhances the flavor of green salads, although some consumers find it distasteful. Some markets and greengrocers stock curly endive, and it is often found through commercial distributors of produce for restaurant use. The green can also be grown at home.
