CUNA’s State Government Affairs (SGA) department is involved in numerous projects that benefit both state and federally chartered credit unions. The staff of SGA works closely with state leagues to identify national trends and determine effective strategies to ensure passage of favorable credit union laws at the state legislatures. CUNA’s unique relationship with the state credit union leagues ensures that each state has the best credit union expertise on the ground, and also ensures that credit union advocates obtain a national perspective on issues that cross state boundaries. CUNA’s SGA is active in national groups that establish public policies on state issues such as the National Association of State Legislatures (NCSL) and the National Governors Association (NGA).
