What is Cryptic Masonry?
Cryptic Masonry completes the “circle of perfection” in Ancient Craft Masonry. While the Symbolic Degrees of the Masonic Lodge teach the allegory of the loss of the Ancient Masters Word and the Royal Arch Degree teaches of its rediscovery, the Cryptic Degrees explain the circumstances under which it was preserved. The Council is often overlooked in comparison to the Royal Arch and the Knights Templar, but it actually contains some of the choicest jewels of Masonic symbolism and tradition.
