What is Cryoglobulinemia Mixed?
Cryoglobulinemia Mixed is a long lasting, abnormal immune system disease caused due to proteins called cryoglobulins present in the blood and hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. It is a combination of an autoimmune disease and a lymphoproliferative disease. It affects the organs such as spleen, skin vasculitis, nerves, kidney, abdomen, liver, and heart. It can lead to other diseases such as dermatomyositis, multiple myeloma, or lymphoma. Cryoglobulinemia is of three types : simple type I cryoglobulinemia, types II and III cryoglobulinemia (mixed cryoglobulinemia). It mostly occurs in the age between 42-52 years and female-to-male ratio is 3:1.
