What is critique on situation ethics?
That to evaluate acceptable action on a case by case basis is not sufficient. Generally speaking, (in ethics) the attempt has been made to establish what is right and wrong based upon a “big picture” theory of mankind and the world we live in. From there, the idea is that events which occur on a case by case basis will be able to be evaluated within this underlying theory. Consequently, we don’t need to evaluate every situation as a singular isolated event. That is the counter position to situational ethics.
