A. Critical Needs Assistance (CNA) is for eligible applicants who are or who have been displaced as a result of Hurricane Gustav and have sustained damage to their home making it temporarily uninhabitable. CNA can provide limited financial help for life-saving and/or life-sustaining items while you were or are unable to live in their homes. Assistance is limited to $500 for eligible applicants. Specifically, individuals or households may be eligible for this assistance if they: Reside in a parish designated for Individual Assistance; and Register with FEMA during the initial 60-day registration period for the disaster; and Have disaster-related damages to their primary residence rendering the home uninhabitable (Damages can be based on inspection or insurance settlement documentation); and Are determined to be eligible for the Individuals and Households Program (IHP), which includes verifying: their identity; their pre-disaster residence; their citizenship status (that is, meeting the
