Credentialing is a process for validating professional licensure, clinical experience, educational preparation and certification for specialty practice. Typically licensure or specialty certification assures a minimum standard of educational preparation, specialty knowledge attainment, and clinical experience. Credentialing also assures adherence to educational standards established by the state nurse practice acts (Public Health Code in Michigan). Requirements for credentialing may include, but are not limited to the following: Curriculum vitae, current RN licensure to practice, graduation from an approved APRN program, Certification by an appropriate national credentialing body, state specialty certification as either a certified nurse practitioner (CNP), Certified nurse midwife CNM, or certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA); letters of recommendation from professional colleagues one or more of whom may be an APRN or physician with clinical privileges at the institution of app
