What is CPAP?
CPAP (pronounced see-pap), stands for Continuous Positive Airway Pressure. CPAP is a device which provides a steady stream of filtered, high-pressure air through a small mask that you wear over your nose when you are asleep. CPAP works by using the pressure of the incoming air to support the soft tissues in your upper airway and prevent their collapse, so that you can then breathe normally.
