What is COX-II?
COX-II and COX-I are two enzymes found in our bodies. COX-I is associated with the regulation of cell functions in the stomach. The experience of pain comes from the COX-II enzyme. COX-II, cyclooxgenase-2, is an enzyme you’re already familiar with if you have ever dealt with pain. It is expressed in response to an attack on your cells by stress and other imbalances. When an enzyme is expressed, that means it is sending a message out to tell other molecules (cells, enzymes, proteins) to do something.
