What is covered in the guidance?
The guidance is for schools and it focuses on strategies for preventing and responding to cyberbullying. The guidance introduces what cyberbullying actually is; and explains where it fits in both education and criminal law. The different types of cyberbullying and how it differs from other ‘traditional’ forms of bullying are outlined; as are the different technologies that can be used. There is a brief introduction to these technologies for those that are not familiar with them. There is section on Prevention, which focuses on implementing strategies and designing activities to tackle cyberbullying as a whole-school community issue. Specifically, it highlights a range of action points across five key areas that the school can use to take its planning forward. In the Responding section the guidance provides advice to schools on the options available for responding to incidents of cyberbullying.
