What is county, state and district in US?
The US is made up of 50 states and the District of Columbia. Each state is divided into counties [the number varies from state to state]. The District of Columbia is a city that is the capital of the entire US, it is not a state or a county, but a unique entity that has a city government [mayor, city council, etc.] but instead of a state governor that each state has, it is governed by the US Congress, which is a bone of contention of many DC residents, as it can be considered “taxation without representation”. Each state has jurisdiction over certain areas of government within its own borders and also has a pretty distinct “personality”. Thus Californians view themselves somewhat differently than New Yorkers do, or Texans, or Nebraskans, etc. They have different accents, somewhat different political views, different things they are known for [foods, for example], etc. For the most part, counties are less-distinct within their own states. “District” is not used in the country/state/coun
