What is counts as a Clear Soup?

0

A clear soup is a broth based soup. Minestrone is NOT a clear based soup, so you really should not have that. You have other options besides straining your chicken noodle…..you can also have consomme – there is a chicken and a beef consomme. There is also plain chicken broth and beef broth. There is a difference between a broth and a consomme, but I don’t know what it is. I’ve been there myself – I had gastric bypass surgery 6 weeks ago and I had to go through the clear liquid diet stage as well, then the regular liquids, so I know what it is like to try to find what you can eat. Good luck with your surgery.

A clear soup would be broth or stock only. Chicken Noodle Soup (though it does not have much good stuff) is still not a clear soup. They sell some very good broth/stocks in the soup aisle in the grocery store. They are also sold in ‘boxes’ which can be used and you can refrigerate the leftovers as these are usually 1 quart. They have all types, vegetable, chicken, beef and seafood. It is also available low sodium and organic. I keep them in my pantry all the time for making soups, sauces and gravies.
