What is continuity of care and how does it work?

Under certain situations, continuity of care may allow new BCN members to continue receiving care from existing non-contracted providers at the in-network level of coverage. BCN may authorize continuity of care for pregnancy, terminal illness, and therapies/treatment for mental health and substance abuse. Continuity of care is available for a limited time, generally no more than 90 days and available only in certain situations. To apply for continuity of care, members should call BCN Customer Service at 1-800-662-6667 within 30 days of their BCN coverge becoming effective.
