What is Contact Lens Induced Dry Eye?
Up to 50% of patients wearing contact lenses experience dryness, discomfort, and/or reduced comfortable lens wearing time, which can lead to contact lens discontinuation. Dry Eye Studies in which we are currently accepting patients A research study involving postmenopausal women and tears. The Contact Lens and Tear Film Lab at OSU is looking for women ages 50 and older with and without dry eye symptoms to participate in a study concerning menopause/post-menopause and tears. The study involves one visit that will last three hours. The study visit includes the collection of a small sample of your tears and tear lipid (oil). A non-fasting blood sample will be taken to look at blood hormone levels. In order to be eligible you must have had your last period at least 12 months ago, and you cannot be a contact lens wearer.
