By default, Retina uses SYN scan mode to perform network scans. SYN scanning is a fast and reliable method of analyzing a network. In some cases, however, firewalls and network latency can cause problems with SYN scan functionality. CONNECT scanning is more reliable under high latency networks, but it is a much slower method of scanning a network. Because of this, it is recommended that users enable CONNECT scanning only if they are certain that SYN scanning is failing, or if instructed to do so by eEye Digital Security technical support.
