What is COMMUNITYsmart®?
COMMUNITYsmart® is a card-based loyalty program that automatically generates funds for local schools and nonprofit organizations (NPOs) when consumers use their cards at Participating Merchants. These merchants donate a portion of their proceeds from purchases to the schools or NPOs selected by the cardholder. In addition to generating cash rebates for schools and NPOs, COMMUNITYsmart® rewards consumers with bonus points, redeemable for unrestricted airline miles, dining and merchandise certificates, gift certificates from major national retailers or additional cash donations. The COMMUNITYsmart® bonus points are accumulated in addition to other points awarded by card issuing financial institutions under MasterCard’s Preferred RewardsSM program.
