What is colour matching?
Carpets are produced in batches with each batch consisting of 500m2-300m2. Whilst the dye concentrations remain constant in each separate production, the colour reproduction will vary from batch to batch. Quality control checks are made to ensure any variation is within a permitted commercial tolerance. This process is not an exact science and the permitted commercial tolerance is subjective – usually based upon the head dryer’s professional judgment. Samples on display may not be from the same batch as current production. Therefore they should be used as a guide only and not as an exact match. Also carpets that are laid with the pile travelling in different detractions, even though they are from the same batch, will appear not to match.
