What is Collision and Comprehensive Insurance?

Collision and Comprehensive are 2 different types of insurance coverage in an auto policy that will protect your car in case of a covered loss. Collision insurance is an optional feature in your auto policy and is the coverage responsible for how your car will get repaired after you have an accident and pay your deductible. You would pay the deductible and your insurance company will pay either Actual Cash Value or the cost to repair/replace your car. Collision means your vehicle collides with something. This could be anything from another car to anything that you can physically collide with! Comprehensive coverage will pay for the damage to your car that is caused by everything other than collision. It also covers all direct and accidental loss that isnt covered by Collision coverage (unless its specifically excluded). This would include: vandalism, theft, fire, flood, hail, etc… – Hoffman Auto Insurance NOTE: The answers to coverage questions are primarily based on ISO forms genera
