What is Collaboration?
Collaboration enables governing bodies from two or more schools to arrange for any of their functions to be discharged jointly or by a joint committee (except to appoint a head teacher). Each school retains its own name, governing body and admission arrangements. The governing bodies decide how they want to work together and how much they want to share staffing and resources across the schools. The benefits can include a stronger senior and middle management team, the appointment of shared staff including specialist teachers and better support and development opportunities for school governors. The main benefit is similar to that of federations which is to raise standards.
