Cold laser therapy (also known as low level laser therapy) is another of the many scientifically unsupported treatments that have been promoted to patients with chronic pain conditions who are desperately seeking relief. The fact that it has been recommended for such diverse conditions a back and neck pain, musculoskeletal pain, arthritis, fibromyalgia, tendonitis, bursitis, neuropathy, migraine headaches, sprains and strains, carpal tunnel syndrome and temporomandibular disorders suggests the nonspecificity of its effects and several systematic reviews of the scientific literature support the fact that any positive results are most likely a placebo response.
