What is coinsurance and copay?
Coinsurance is the amount you are responsible for after the plan has paid an eligible expense at the applicable percentage. Coinsurance does accumulate toward the out of pocket limit. Copay is the portion of the eligible expense which is payable by the participant above and beyond deductible and coinsurance. Copays do not accumulate toward the out of pocket limit.
