What is “Cognitive Behavioural Therapy” and why does Kids Help Phone use this counselling model?
The objective of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is to identify and monitor thoughts, assumptions, beliefs and behaviours that are related to debilitating negative emotions, and to identify those thoughts etc. which are dysfunctional, inaccurate, or simply unhelpful. This is done in an effort to replace or transcend these dysfunctional or inaccurate thoughts with more realistic and useful ones.
