I can’t comment on the bill, but the petition is the typical paranoid conspiracy theory nonsense based on fear and misinformation. I believe the proposed bill is similar to one that is being proposed in Canada where there will be more oversight, testing and regulation of the completely unregulated supplements industry. This is mostly for safety and quality control issues, and to ensure that there is good evidence for any of the claims (often outlandish) made for benefits from supplements. The petition implies that now “big pharma” will be in control and running everything. Nonsense. What is not acknowledged is that most of the vitamin and supplement suppliers are subdivisions of “big pharma”. Vitamins and supplements are a big business, worth billions of dollars (or pounds). They are made and packaged in large factories, they are marketed with slick advertising campaigns and sold in stores as well as on the internet.
