What is CO2e or Carbon Dioxide Equivalent?
Many people know that carbon dioxide (CO2) is a leading cause of global climate change. However, CO2 isn’t the only guilty gas. Methane for instance has more than 20 times the climate change impact of CO2. When we talk about the climate impacts of a given activity, it is important to have a single term and a single unit of measure. For global climate change, “Carbon Dioxide Equivalents,” or CO2e is a widely used standard.
