What is co-curricular service learning?
Co-curricular service learning is a teaching method based on active participation, in which students learn and develop through thoughtfully organized service that meets community needs. It is coordinated within schools, institutions of higher education, community service programs, and with the community itself. Co-curricular service learning is distinguished from academic service learning in that it is not anchored in a specific course. A key component of any service learning is structured “reflection” time to review the service experience.
