What is CIAT?
Founded in 1965, CIAT was originally the Society of Architectural and Associated Technicians (SAAT). In 1986, SAAT’s name changed to British Institute of Architectural Technicians – BIAT and in 1994 the title of the Institute changed to British Institute of Architectural Technologists. In July 2005, the Institute was Granted Chartership and became the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT). The Institute represents over 8000 professionals working and studying in the field of Architectural Technology in the UK and overseas. As such, CIAT has become internationally recognised as the qualifying body for Chartered Architectural Technologists (MCIAT) and Architectural Technicians (TCIAT).
