What is Christian Counseling?
Christian counseling is a ministry for all committed believers within the body of Christ. It is a ministry that ministers one to another (Matthew 28:19-20; Romans 15:14; Galatians 6:1-5). The range of problems biblical counselors deal with is numerous. It includes broken marriages, parent-child relationships, fear, depression, alcohol and drug abuse, tension, anxiety, worry, and other problems resulting in mental and physical distress.
Christian Counseling is distinctive in that its foundation is the Word of God. It signifies that the counselor comes from a Biblical perspective and all counsel will be in line with Scripture and Christian theology. Furthermore, sessions will not implement non-traditional forms of counseling techniques. The Bible gives us wisdom about who we are, who God is, and how we are designed to relate to God, each other and creation. It also gives us insight into the core problems of the human soul.
