This program is a jointly sponsored undertaking between St. Vincent Medical Center and the parish and is intended to support the ministry of health within the parish. The ministry of health is founded on two main principles. The first is an understanding of health as wholeness recognizing and attending to the spiritual, emotional and physical nature of each person, and the social and environmental contexts within which the individual lives. The second is that the work of the parish is to proclaim the reign of God, here among us, as the place where people attain wholeness and healing through faith in the God whom Jesus reveals. This ministry does not duplicate service provided by physicians’ offices or by home health agencies. Nor does it administer medications or provide medical diagnosis. We communicate, coordinate referrals and services from outside sources and cooperate with providers of services in promoting a holistic approach to well being.
