What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a branch of the healing arts that focuses on the inherent ability of the body to heal without the use of drugs or surgery. The application of science in chiropractic concerns itself with the relationship between structure (primarily the spine) and function, as coordinated by the nervous system of the human body, and as that relationship may affect the restoration and preservation of health.
The focus of Chiropractic is the nerve system function. Your spinal bones protect your spinal cord & nerves which control every cell, tissue & organ in your body! Your nerve system is the master controller, & works like a switchboard sending messages to the brain and the rest of the body. Once your spine is balanced & free of nerve interference your body works at its best, self healing & self regulating. Interferences to the nerve system are called subluxations.
Chiropractic is a holistic health care discipline, firmly grounded in science, that concentrates on maintaining the body’s proper functioning and its ability to heal itself. The brain and nervous system control your organs and muscles, keeping the heart pumping, the lungs breathing, the stomach digesting, etc. The information your organs and muscles need to function travels along your nervous system from the brain through the spinal cord, and from specific segments of the spinal cord to specific organs. The goal of chiropractic is to achieve “whole body” health by maintaining the spine’s proper anatomical position and mobility in order for the nervous system to continue working properly and efficiently.
Chiropractic is an effective form of care helping your nervous system work the way it should. It’s a scientific fact that your brain, spinal cord control every aspect of your body. Millions of instructions travel from these higher centers down through the delicate nerves that innervate every organ and tissue. Signals sent back to the brain confirm everything is functioning properly. Obstruct these vital networks between your brain and your body, and ill health can result. “Chiropractic” comes from the Greek word Chiropraktikos, meaning “effective treatment by hand.” Chiropractic also has an ageless place in health care. The Chinese have included “manipulation” in their treatment methods for thousands of years. Hippocrates, the “father of modern medicine,” utilized manipulations in his treatments. Chiropractic has been practiced in America for over 100 years. Today’s approach to wellness begins with a highly trained Chiropractic Physician who completes the rigorous educational process o
Chiropractic is a branch of healing arts based on the understanding that good health depends, in part, upon a normally functioning nervous system – especially the spine and the nerves extending from the spine to all parts of the body. It is a drugless, non-surgical therapy utilizing manipulation of the spine and extremities, as well as clinical nutrition, physiologic therapeutics, massage, lifestyle counseling, hygiene, acupuncture, rehabilitation, and overall wellness promotion to prevent and treat disease.
