WHAT IS CHIP3 AND WHY HAS IT BEEN INTRODUCED?

It is linked to The Dangerous Preparations Directive (DPD) Dir99/45/EC from the European Commission. DPD is implemented via The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and not by either DEFRA or PSD. It is implemented by way of the CHIP3 regulations 2002 (Chemical Hazard Information & Packaging for Supply) and relates to the classification, packaging and labelling of chemicals. The aim is to achieve a uniform approach across the industry and within the EU.
