What is child labour?

Child labour encompasses every non-school going child irrespective of whether the child is engaged in wage or non-wage work. Child labour thus means all work that interferes with the right of the child to full-time, formal education and/or is hazardous. Small tasks performed after school at home or at a farm are thus not considered child labour. There is however no universally accepted definition of child labour. Writers and speakers dont always specify what definition they are using, and that often leads to confusion.
