What is Champissage?
(pronounced schumpi schage) Champissage is a method of touch therapy and developed by Narendra Mehta. It is based on the traditional form of Champi (head massage) practiced in India for over 1,000 years and focuses on the head, neck and upper back. About one third of the tension in the body is carried in the head and shoulders. This Indian head technique relieves srtress in these areas, stimulating the endorphins from the brian that elevate the mood and relieve the stress. This therapy is performed while the client is fully clothed. Necklaces, earrings and any face piecing must be removed. The client need only wear a light shirt or T shirt. No oils or lotions are typically applied to the areas of the skin anytime during the therapy session. Pat Pere McCarthy is certified in Champissage and trained under Narendra Mehta and his wife Kunda.
