What is Chain of Command?

0

The chain of command is the hierarchy of management. It is generally used in relation to military command but can be used in civilian companies. The chain of command for a person in private business would be something like this. You have a clerk to start with. His supervisor would be his immediate boss and the first step in his chain of command. The supervisors manager would be the next step in his chain of command. The supervisors manager would have a boss, say a department head that would make the next step in the clerks chain of command. It would go step by step on up to the CEO of the company. You generally don’t want to “buck” the chain of command or go around someone. This gets you into trouble.
