They are made of clay and minerals dug from the earth and fired at very high temperatures (over 2,000 degrees F ) Tile on walls and floors are considered to be the most durable, and clean surface of all standard building materials. TRADITIONAL “CERAMIC TILE” IS MADE BY COATING A FLAT CLAY SURFACE WITH A SILICA OR PORCELAIN SURFACE AND THEN FIRING IT IN AN OVEN.
