What is CE Broker?
CE Broker is the name of an electronic tracking system developed for the Department of Health to help track and facilitate audit of continuing education credits earned by Florida’s health care practitioners. “CE Broker” is a company that tracks the continuing education courses taken by all health care practitioners licensed by the Florida Department of Health. Several years ago, the Florida Legislature received evidence that many health care licensees were not taking the required CE courses and in 2001 passed a law that required the Department to set up an “electronic CE tracking system.” However the Legislature did not provide any funding for the tracking program. The Department then contracted with a company, CE Broker, which agreed to do the tracking without charging the Department. Under the contract, CE Broker makes money by charging licensees $35 to subscribe to its services for two years.
