Condition based monitoring (CBM) is a methodology that improves upon the preventive maintenance concept by using predictive technologies. Predictive technologies include; infrared thermography, vibration analysis, ultrasonic analysis, oil analysis, and even human monitoring. By using these technologies the condition or health of a piece of equipment can be monitored. When indicators suggest a potential failure corrective action can be taken.
