cathodic protection is a method to protect a metal object, like a pipe or a boat or an offshore platform, by appling an external current.
cathodic protection can be applied wiht two different methods:
-galvanic anodes, that are piece of metal like zinc or aluminium that corrodes and protect the structure
-impressed current, that is current applied by an external generator to the structure to be protected
