What is Carleton University in Ottawa like?
Carleton operates a sort of hotel out of its residences during the summer (May-August) months. Your answer depends on which residence is being used. With four people in a room you will likely be assigned a room with two to four single / double rooms attached to a central kitchen area. You will also likely be housed in Glengarry, Leeds, or Prescott. Depending on the building, there may or may not be air conditioning. Carleton’s beds are standard residence fare. This means mattresses more suitable for a camp or hostel rather than a hotel. All rooms will be clean and there should be no issues of bugs or rodents though I would be surprised if each student wasn’t assigned their own bed. Carleton DOES have a pool and a 10m diving tower in its athletic centre. This is an approximately 5 minute walk from the residences. Access to the facility is likely not included in the rate paid for by your school but can be accessed for apprx. $4 similar to a public municipal pool.
